Recent
video and video installation work by Giddy, Gladwell and Kuball,
connected by elements that are drawn from life – observed
and orchestrated – with no particular beginning or end, and
weaving through real time, “some time” and the
“out of time.” No people, actors or animals were abused
in the making.
The exhibition will include:
You, by Giddy, a 2005 single channel video projection work. It
has been selected for the upcoming Figuring Landscapes exhibition
of British and Australian moving image works that will tour several
venues in England, including Tate Modern, in late 2008 through
2009. This will be the first presentation of Giddy’s
work in the Americas.
Gladwell’s Taranaki Descent, 2004, a single channel site work,
was produced in New Plymouth, New Zealand for the exhibition Gridlockat
the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery. Gladwell has been selected to represent
Australia for the 2009 Venice Biennale.
Kuball’s Amateurfilm,1968/ 2006, an installation with a single
channel video projection. Amaterfilmwas shown at the Art Academy
Tirana, Albania in 2007. This will be the first presentation
of Kuball’s work in Canada since the group exhibition Threshold,
at the Power Plant in 1998. |
